Question about ink cartridges?

I just found that my Epson Stylus CX4600 will not print at all unless the color cartridges are full, even though the black ink cartridge is still full. I was not aware of this until today, and my color cartridges have been empty for several days and I heard that this could create permanent damage. Should I get a new printer?

The printer will not work if any of the catridge is empty or deleted. If forsome catridge is empty days willget chief clog and the ink catridge will not come. Maybe, but always new cartridges.
