Overriding draw lock mechanism on filing cabinet?

I cannot shut a drawer on metal filing cabinet as something is stopping it inside the drawer below,the offending drawer I cannot open until all other drawers are closed.How do I override this locking mechanism?

Try reaching the release with a yard stick or something like it.
