Will the heavy electrical cables (commonly used for edgers and blowers) stand to be outside in the rain?

I need another point of sale in my room and I am thinking of running a heavy duty electrical cable (about 25 feet long) through my window in my bedroom .. my question is. is whether it is safe to leave the cable around the back of my house when it rains? Does anyone know if the outdoor cables usually used to power edgers, blowers, etc can withstand rain, while in use?

UV sun will destroy the plastic surrounding the wires. which can be used very temporarily.
